Hi,

My English isn't much better, but i'll try to help you.

You've got a DR with electronic star so you've got a SP45.

I don't know the side racks on the second picture, in Germany we've got the side racks from Five Stars or Hepco &Becker.
A picture is here:
Five Stars
the Hepco&Becker are similar to the FiveStars but more expensive and stronger than the others.

I hope I could help you

Best regards

Hi Philip,
great, you live in the finest part of world to bike an Suzuki-DR. I'm not really shure, but isn't this Lago di Caldonazzo on youir first pic, i guess its taken near Calceranica  , "Kaiserjägerweg" on south up is fantastic and more ond more tracks (Old Broccon, Asiago northerway dirt-track!!). I spend last year 14 days round Trento with my DR and wheels surface was at least well rounded  .

Your Questions:
Since i almost thought, Givi is an italian fabricat? Isn't it ?!?!

Five-Stars products generally seller/distributor in Germany is Fa. JF-Motorsport GmbH, D-61239 Ober-Mörlen . But i didn't find side-bars just for an DR SP 45.
My first tip, ask JF for the dealers name and adress in Italy. Second you may contact JF for the possibility to become only the Givi "ground-racks" to fit themselfe. So i did years ago for an old Tenere and they send me the ground-racks solo, because the complete side-bars haven't never been in stock.

yes that's lago di caldonazzo :D compliment :D

i live there...

i don't want to spend so much for these side ranks..

because of that i thought about this cheap solution

http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... :IT&ih=007

and then try to adapt it...

or try to do an homemade solution

That's the way it goes

This offer is not real cheap and its a must to change/complete it with own adapters.
Your homemode-Solution ist the better way; it is even faster done and more simple, and cheaper too

Screw down the handle-bars and use this mounts, even thoose from the exhaust, to screw up your construct. In same way all systems are fitted. If you want to hang on luggage, boxes for example, it shuold be good to stabalize the side-Bars with a steelconnection to the footrests und same rearside to connect both sides.

Usually you can take for the adaptors steel pieces (for example with dimension 20 mm x 3mm or 4 mm, length as used), and turn them round with 90 degrees at one end to fit at the mounts.

Thats not a difficult work, only soldering the other ends to the sidebars should be little experienced.

Aaaargh , lago and streets around in Nothern Italy ...Bild
Bild .. bikers-heaven has to wait for me until next year ....

Hello Philip,

the same problem has another DR-Driver from Italy (Torino).

He has found good side racks in your country.

The best, you send him an email an ask, where he found this item.

Please send me an PN (personal message), so i can give you the email adress from him.

Greetings from a fan of your country

Named "mounts" i meant the soldered screw-inserts in the frame which you signed with"?". They are right to fit the side-bars as you showd in your drawing.
All clear  - now you get best artwork á la Pramus -> Bild

You may perhaps even use the screw-inserts where your backside handle-grips and luaggage-carrier are fitted to the frame. I don't have the special knowledge of the SP 45 detail and can't see it on your pic, because this points are under the plastics.

sorry.. in the 2° imagine why did you indicate the same mount for both the "mounts points"?

or maybe is better this solution? because.... don't you think that the ranks it comes too much forward/ahead?

and so they risk to touch the tire or the exaust?

Sorry, was was a fatal mistake! (I think i have to sharpen my glasses  ). The green marked should show the forward fitting points, the yellow the backwards.

To screw it at the luggage-Carrier ist not the best idea. Thats my thinking! Most stable it will be, to use fitting points in the frame. Even my thinking is, Yours 2. solution effects, that the side-bars are too small. Your fearings, they can get in conflict with tires and exhaust ist most theoretic. Well made, some more bigger and not to small and in forward position, its their task to protect everything to do so.
